Tangut Poetry Translation
The coming up posts I will be focussing on the translation of a Tangut poem. I'm not even sure if my version is complete, but it seems to be this way.
The Tangut language is one of my favourite languages, not because it's particulary beautiful but actually because it's rather stupid. It's a Tibeto-Burman language which utilizes a Siniform script, but instead of sticking to it's own grammar it often tries to imitate Chinese grammar, so you need some knowledge of both languages to figure the texts out, this makes it quite challenging because there aren't many recources and the languages died out a bit less than 700 years ago.
